THE DOLOMITES WE HAD A GREAT COURSE AND NOW WE WOULD LOVE TO SHOW YOU START FROM A HANG GLIDER'S PERSPECTIVE THE PALE MOUNTAINS PRE-STORY The Pale Mountains, as French mineralogist Déodat Gratet de Dolomieu first described them, are arguably one of the most scenic mountain formations in the World. So it was mostly a matter of pride that AdventureFlying would also call for a course in the Dolomites. COL RODELLA TAKE OFF Campitello and Canazei lay right in the heart of those glorious Dolomites, which makes Col Rodella the ideal takeoff location (N, S, W) when aiming to visit the cradle of European alpinism. There are a few more takeoff possibilites in a vicinity of 20km, each allowing for different wind and weather conditions. GRUPPO DI SELLA PANORAMIC VIEWS Marmolada, Gruppo di Sella, Sasso Pordoi and Sasso Lungo are meanwhile also famous names in the free flying world – and they are only a glide and a half away from our takeoff. LANGKOFEL IN THE CLOUD Sometimes it almost seems too good to be true that you can visit all these places at once, and capture a glimpse of their beauty, before those Gopro batteries would slowly give up on you. Hang gliding Calendar 2017 MARMOLADA FAMOUS ROCKS But there is more, much more out there to see, and these places command even more respect to alpinists and pilots. LAGO ANTERMOIA LEGENDARY LAKE The Lake of Antermoia, the Rose Garden, Latemar, Schlern, Red Wall, and the coolest of them all – the three pinnacles of the Vaiolet towers. Rosengarten Group ROSENGARTEN &
LAGO ANTERMOIA
HIDDEN JEWELRIES The Antermoia comprises the central-eastern part of the awesome Catinaccio (Rosengarten) group. Flying over this massif is always a rewarding experience of climbing pale rock faces which are providing surprisingly mild thermals.
From Rosengarten towards Seisseralm and Rosszähenn ROSSZAEHNE SHARP RIDGE On a day with high enough cloudbase one can make a ride from Col Rodella towards west where beautiful rocks of Rosszähne are making a nice rim on the souther side of Seiseralm, a high scenic plateau behind Langkofel. VIOLET TOWERS REWARDING VIEW They require a little more dedication from the pilots' side. On friendly days you might be granted an audience for a few minutes, before they cover themselves in mist again. THE HEADS BEFORE GOING HOME Split rocks on the eastern end of Rosengarten are often called The Heads due to their shape. When the weather is favorable to pilots, they can be found surfing and soaring these impressive figures before heading back to Canazei. Sasha Hang gliding in the Dolomites Early September is traditionally the right time to explore the Dolomites via hang glider. Conditions are more steady then, with light winds and cloudbase often well above summit heights. This year the course took place on the week 4 - 10 Sept. and we have been flying for 5 days.

This AdventureFlying course is best suitable for medium to well experienced XC pilots.
