Day 7 – Norwegian Tour

Morning in Bassano

While the rest of the Alps are taking a rest today from XC flying due to very poor conditions, we start our final day in Bassano. The northern flow brought the fresh and buoyant airmass as far as to Italian Voralpen. Normally at this time of the season Bassano stays very stable, hardly allowing climbs higher than 1200 m. However today we have almost a spring situation with early cumulus clouds popping up over Montegrappa and even in flatlands. It gives us a good chance to make a decent flight supported by SW wind, which is predicted together with 1600-1700 m cloudbase. So let's get ready and drive to the top of Monte Grappa...

On Montegrappa

Conditions look good and we are getting ready for the last task of this Course. Wind is waving from west, but thankfully to this higher take off, one can launch in this direction as well. Some paragliders are already in the air at the cloudbase of approx. 1600 m. Gerolf set an ambitious task to fly to Meduno with an option to extend the flight to Gemona, which will make it as long as 120 km.

In Gemona

And here we are in Gemona after 4 hours in the air! Now heading for our deserved final dinner to celebrate the end of this cool course. We had very intense 6 out 7 flying days with 6 different take-offs all over the southern part of Alps in Carinthia, Südtirol, Gemona, Bassano, Meduno and Vittorio Veneto.

Cheers from landing!
