Leaving Greifenburg

Fresh morning in Greifenburg but we are already about to leave to Südtirol, to the place called Kronplatz, which is a famous takeoff in Pustertal.

Early morning in Greifenburg. Ground inversion

On Kronplatz

Coming to the take off, which can be reached by the cable car:

The weather looks promising, we have decent NE on the take off, some paragliders are already floating on the level of Kronplatz top (2275 m). This take off is not an early start for cross county flights. As our plan is to fly to Galtal in Austria today we are waiting another hour for the air to warm up. While Gerolf is giving the last hints how to fly the task today have look at nice scenery from the take off here:

Now a little report about the flight. Demanding conditions which made them very interesting weren't always cooperating today. We had two inversion layers at the altitudes of 2200 and 2800 meters which spiced up the flight and gave us much more job which we expected in the beginning. The wind was turning from NW to NE on altitudes of tops of the lifts (3200 m), that is changing from supportive to almost upwind at some stages of the flight. However we managed to cover the bigger part of the task. Our pilots were very impressed with the views of limestone massives of Dreischusterspitze, Dürrenstein and other groupes of Dolomites which we've met on the way to the landing in Lesachtal.
